CIRENCESTER'S Christmas Advent Market has been cancelled due to this weekend's storm warning.

The event was due to take place on Saturday, November 27 but the yellow warning from the Met Office of high winds and snow has meant its cancellation.

A statement from Cirencester Town Council read:

"After careful consideration, it is with huge regret that we have had to make the difficult decision to cancel tomorrow’s Advent Market.

"This follows the Met Office warning of very high winds and snow which could pose a significant risk to our traders and members of the public attending the market.

"We would like to thank all our staff, volunteers and sponsors for their continued support and let’s hope that next year will be more straightforward!

"All our other Christmas Markets are expected to go ahead as planned."
