Cirencester's biggest ever Advent Market is taking place next Saturday.

There will be more than 100 stalls featuring local traders in the Market Place, Cricklade Street, Castle Street and down towards the Bear Inn on Dyer Street.

Although there has been no formal switch-on event this year, the Advent Market will be held under the backdrop of the town’s Christmas lights and will surround the Christmas tree.

The event will run from 11am-6pm and will also feature light displays and children's rides.

Cirencester town councillor Gary Selwyn, lead member for community services, said “Christmas didn't go as planned last year with some festive plans put on hold.

"However, I’m delighted that Cirencester’s Christmas markets are back this year and that we’ve been able to extend their duration, thanks to our partnership with Cotswold Markets Ltd.

"I’m particularly looking forward to the Advent Street Market on the 27th, which promises to be a great family day, showcasing local traders and supporting our town centre’s economy.”

The following road closures will be in place throughout the day:

  • Dollar Street closed at Thomas Street Junction
  • Cricklade Street closed at Castle Street Junction
  • Castle Street closed at Silver Street Junction
  • Dyer Street closed at North Way Junction
  • Black Jack Street closed at Park Street Junction
  • Coxwell Street closed at Thomas Street Junction
