Holly Willoughby has shared a health update with fans with the presenter absent from This Morning for a third day.

The TV host pulled out of presenting the show at the last minute on Tuesday morning.

Holly and Phil host the show together from Monday to Thursday each week but a last-minute replacement was “parachuted” in.

Addressing the elephant in the room Phil said: "Holly is not here today because she's got a tummy bug - nothing more than that.”

Yate's Josie Gibson has stepped in to replace Holly in her absence and has been flooded with compliments from ITV viewers.

And on Thursday she once again joined Phil on the sofa as Holly issued a health update to fans.

Phillip Schofield sends message to Holly Willoughby on This Morning

Phil had hoped his regular co-host would return for Thursday’s show as he sent a message to his colleague on Wednesday.

Speaking on Wednesday morning’s instalment of This Morning he said: "We were texting Holly all afternoon yesterday.

"It's a tummy bug that is going around everywhere, it's apparently only a two day thing - she has lost her appetite, so it'd be a shame not to come in as we've got great food later!"

He added: "Morning Hols, hope you're okay - I'll text you later and hopefully see you tomorrow."
