A popular family-run business in Frampton Mansell has been named one of the best rural businesses in the UK after winning regional award.

Jolly Nice Farmshop was named ‘Best Rural Innovation Business’ at the South West regional finals of the Rural Business Awards in partnership with Amazon, which took place virtually on October 22, 2021 and it will now represent the South West region at the national final in February 2022.

Jolly Nice is located on the A419 between Stroud and Cirencester and was founded by third-generation farmers Rebecca and Simon Wilson in 2013.

Rebecca steers the ship and Simon drives the tractor. Their three children have since the start been involved in developing the business, tasting new recipes, and rounding up escapee pigs.

“On behalf of everyone at Jolly Nice, I’d like to say thank you to Amazon and the Rural Business Awards for recognising our work. It’s a great boost for our business, we’re really proud and we’re looking forward to the national finals next year,” said Rebecca.

In just a few years Jolly Nice has grown from a tiny team of three to over eighty, employing chefs, butchers, baristas, and florists.

A temporary drive through was created when the cafe closed overnight in March 2020 due to Covid and with vital support from the local community, it meant the business could keep staff employed, continue to support local producers, and serve customers safely.

Jolly Nice won the Best Rural Innovation Award for their drive through which was planned, built, and opened within just eight weeks of the first lockdown.

‘’We worked hard and adapted quickly during the first lockdown, we are proud that we found a way to stay safe and stay open and continue to support our artisan suppliers and serve our customers safely. We are still innovating and have exciting plans for early 2022, with the launch of our new purpose-built drive-through which will have state-of-the-art cooking equipment, a new yurt for seating, improved parking, tree planting and new menus’’ added Rebecca.
