A NEW jewellery, gift, clothing and accessories shop has opened this week in Malmesbury.

Family-run Bay Design, which has another store in Devizes, is now open to the public in Malmesbury High Street.

One of the main features is that they sell factory overstock and end of season lines, which is at half the normal price.

The business also offers handmade sterling silver and mixed metal jewellery as well as gifts such as ceramics and bags.

They are also expecting to have new clothing deliveries over the next week.

“We are really happy in Malmesbury and have received such a warm welcome,” says Jo Burke, one of the family members who run the businesses

“We like that it’s a market town with independence. People are really friendly and the feedback so far has been great. Since opening on Saturday, a lot of the neighbouring stores have come in to welcome us.”

Jo is also a silversmith and makes jewellery which is sold in the shop.

The family are thrilled to finally be open after delays caused by the pandemic.

“Covid has had an impact. We spent a long time planning this shop but since we had to relocate our Devizes store we had to put our plans to expand in Malmesbury on hold,” said Jo.

They are nonetheless delighted to have opened this week.

“We have been lucky to find the right premises and everything is panning out as we would have wanted,” she says.

Another important feature is that they are especially keen to look after their customers.

“We are really flexible, especially considering Covid. We know that some people like to take things home and try them on,” said Jo

“Our priority is that customers are happy and comfortable.

“We are a family-run business and we really care about them.”

Bay Design was established in 2008 in Cornwall before relocating to Devizes in 2017.

This new shop in Malmesbury replaces the A4 Stationers at 14 High Street.
