The 33-year-old man who was stabbed to death in a field in Gorse Hill has been named locally.

Tributes have been paid to Lee Turner after he suffered a single knife wound and died at the scene on Sunday.

Flowers have been left along with pictures of Lee on the field off May Close.

One person said on Facebook: “RIP Lee Turner, you were always there when I need you, you always had my back”

Another added: “Can’t even believe what I’ve just seen. You didn’t deserve to go. Rest in peace, to a good friend who you could always turn to.”

Wiltshire Police launched a murder enquiry on Sunday and said yesterday they are continuing their enquiries at a “rapid pace”.

No suspects have yet been arrested.

Friends and family are planning a lantern release in his honour on Saturday at 6.30pm in Coate Water. People have also been invited to light a candle.
