All lanes are open again on the M5 after a number of cars were damaged by a hole on the carriageway.

Two lanes were closed on the M5 northbound between junction 9 for Tewkesbury and junction 8 for the M50 interchange this afternoon - causing long tailbacks.

The hole was in the second lane and estimated to be around six inches deep and a foot in length.

A number of cars sustained damage and and police attended the scene.

The road has now been repaired and all lanes are open again.
