EVERYONE loves a cupcake - and so do we, so we decided to talk to Jennifer Renard of GlamoRose Cakes in Cirencester.

Glamorose has a shop in Bishops Walk, Cirencester.

What is your full name and the name of your business?

My name is Jennifer Renard and my business is called GlamoRose Events. I currently own two shops so trade as GlamoRose Cakes Cirencester and GlamoRose Cakes Chippenham.

How long has the business been going?

GlamoRose Events started in August 2020, I opened my Cirencester shop in October 2020 and my Chippenham shop in April 2021.

What services/ products do you sell?

We sell a variety of products including cupcakes, traybakes, tiffin, brownies, vegan and made without gluten options as well as celebration cakes, traycakes and personalised options too! The shops also have little extras such as candles, cake toppers and cards.

What is the best selling line in your business?

Cupcakes by far! In terms of flavour Double Chocolate is always a winner, Lotus Biscoff (my personal favourite!) and Lemon Meringue are always the flavours to sell out first.

What made you get involved in the business?

I was employed by GlamoRose Cakes before the pandemic and I attended all of the events to sell the delicious cupcakes then as time went on, Jessie (the owner of GlamoRose Cakes) and I agreed I would set up my own business and sell her products! I love the whole range available and can’t explain how happy it makes me to run my own business, to work with beautiful people and to be able to sell cake every day!

What is the weirdest thing you have been asked for in the business?

I don’t think there is anything necessarily weird that I have been asked for but it did make me laugh when someone approached me and said “so you just drop them in the bath do you?” I stared at them really confused and said “I wouldn’t recommend it, it’s better to be eaten”, the customer then looked confused and said “are they not bath bombs?” - we both had a laugh and she enjoyed EATING her cake and not bathing in it!

What is Cirencester like to trade in?

Cirencester is just so lovely! Having the support from local people, local businesses and being able to help the tourists visiting too has been amazing! It’s coming up to 1 year since opening the shop in Bishops Walk and it is going from strength to strength and can’t wait for the Christmas period which doesn’t involve a mini lockdown in November!

Anything else you want to say about the business?

I can’t wait to see what the future holds and I can’t wait to announce an incredible surprise that I have been building up to for the last 4/5 months!
