Olympian Anna Watkins will open Aldi's new store in Malmesbury later this month.

The rowing star, who won a gold medal at London 2012, will cut the ribbon at 8am on Thursday, September 30.

Anna said: “I’m so excited to be opening Aldi’s new store; it will be great to chat to customers and a lovely way for me to thank Aldi for its support of Team GB.”

The Festival Way store, located next to Malmesbury Garden Centre, will be run by store manager Tom along with 24 colleagues from the community. The new store will offer fresh, British meat products with weekly offers. Aldi’s legendary 'Specialbuys' will be available in the middle aisle every Thursday and Sunday.

The store will be open from 8am-10pm Monday-Saturday, and from 10am-4pm on Sundays.

Tom said: “We can’t wait to open the doors to the new store in Malmesbury. It’s set to be a special day and having Olympic hero Anna Watkins join us will make it a morning to remember.”

The new store on Festival Way, next to Malmesbury Garden Centre, is calling on local charities and food banks in Malmesbury to register with Neighbourly - a community engagement platform that links businesses to charitable organisations in the local community.

Charities that register will be able to collect surplus food and perishable products, such as fruit, vegetables and baked goods, up to seven days a week. Any charities that would like to partner up with the new store should email aldi@neighbourly.com.
