A man has died following a crash between a fuel tanker and a Land Rover in Gloucestershire yesteday (Thursday).

Police were called to the Forest of Dean shortly before 1.20pm following reports of a crash between a fuel tanker and Land Rover 4X4 on the A4136, between the A40 Gloucester turn-off (Huntley) and the Blaisdon turning.

Emergency services attended, including an air ambulance, and a local man aged in his 50s who was driving the 4x4 was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed.

The driver of the lorry was uninjured.

Road closures were put into place on Velthouse Lane, the A40 at Huntley and A4136 at Church Lane to allow for vehicles to divert into Longhope and were due to remain until Thursday evening. 

Anyone who was travelling in the area and witnessed what happened or has dashcam footage is asked to contact the police.
