Armed police and negotiators are trying to negotiate with a man armed with a knife in a petrol station in Bristol.

Avon and Somerset Police have deployed specialist units to the scene and have closed Hengrove Way in Bristol today. One person has been left the scene and gone to hospital with injuries not believed life-threatening.

Currently staff members are being held in a safe room and are in contact with the officers, all are said to be uninjured.

Officers have asked members of the public to avoid the area.
