A MINI-HEATWAVE is set to hit Cirencester as temperatures soar to 28 degrees Celsius.

The Met Office forecasts highs of 26C today and on Wednesday, peaking at 28C tomorrow.

Skies will be cloudy for parts of Monday and Wednesday, with the sun peeking out from behind cover occasionally, though the clouds should clear for most of Tuesday.

Light winds and no more than a 10 per cent chance of rain is forecast throughout the start of this week, although there could be some showers by Wednesday afternoon.

UV rays and pollen levels will be medium-strength.

The warmer weather began over the weekend, a welcome last blast of summer before autumn begins.

On Thursday and Friday, the mercury will drop down to 21C at most with some rain expected.
