A motorcyclist has died following a crash near South Cerney yesterday (Thursday, September 2).
A motorcycle was involved in a crash with a heavy piece of plant machinery on Spine Road East, at the junction with Cerney Wick Quarry at 4.20pm.
The rider of the motorcycle, 51, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin and the coroner have been informed.
The driver of the plant machinery is believed to be uninjured.
Spine Road East remained closed for a number of hours following the incident but has since reopened.
Police are investigating the circumstances of the crash and are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
Officers would like to hear from anyone who has not already spoken to them and who may have witnessed the crash or the motorcycle involved prior to it.
They would also like to speak to anyone who may have dashcam footage or any footage they feel might be relevant.
