FIRE personnel from 15 different sites from across Worcestershire, Herefordshire and the Cotswolds took part in a 24-hour operation to put out aa blaze in Long Marston.

Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service crews were called just before 2pm on Monday (August 30) to a building fire at a one-storey recycling separation plant.

The service confirmed two crews from Evesham were joined by teams from Pebworth, Pershore, Redditch, Droitwich and Bromsgrove, plus the aerial ladder platform from Worcester, the Incident Command Unit and the service drone from Ledbury, the Environmental Protection Unit from Wyre Forest and the water carrier from Leominster.

Crews from Gloucestershire and Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Services – from Chipping Campden, Moreton-in-Marsh, Bidford-on-Avon and Cheltenham East – also attended.

A Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service statement read: “The fire involved the separation plant and a large quantity of recycling material.

“Crews used six breathing apparatus and two hose reel jets with drone imaging, dampening down and cutting away carried out.

“Watching briefs and re-inspections continued throughout the night ahead of a fire inspection the following morning at 9am. There were no casualties.

“The incident was closed at 14:04 on August 31.”
