POLICE have released an update on an attempted murder at a Cotswold pub.

Two people were arrested following a serious assault at a pub in Bourton-on-the-Water on Saturday night.

A force spokesman said today that the victim remains in a serious but stable condition in hospital and the two who were arrested have since been released on bail.

Officers are now appealing for witnesses to come forward to the incident, which happened on Saturday night. 

Police were called to Kingsbridge Public House at 10.35pm after it was reported that a man had been punched and fallen unconscious following an altercation.

Officers attended along with paramedics and the man was taken to John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford with suspected head injuries.

A 52-year-old man from London was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and a 50-year-old woman from London was arrested on suspicion of public order offences.

Both have now been released on bail.

A number of people were at the pub at the time and investigating officers are asking anyone who hasn’t already spoken to police to please get in contact.
