Tetbury motorbike star Danny Kent has broken his hip after crashing at Donington Park on Sunday.
Kent was competing in the Bennetts British Superbike Championship when he crashed at Coppice during the second race of the weekend.
He was airlifted to Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham where he underwent an successful operation to relocate the hip dislocation.
Surgery to repair the break is planned for next week.
Messages of support have poured in following the accident.
One Tetbury resident said he had been left 'shocked' after seeing the crash on television.
"Everyone around the county is thinking of him," he added.
Rookie Tim Neave will represent Buildbase Suzuki at Cadwell Park this weekend in Kent's place.
Kent is best known for winning the 2015 Moto3 World Championship. In doing so he became Great Britain's first world champion since Barry Sheene in 1977.
