A Tetbury makeup artist is offering free nipple tattoos for people who have had a mastectomy.
Luisa Krayem has been tattooing eyebrows, eyeliner and lip colour for the past seven years but, after going through tests following a personal breast cancer scare, she decided to transfer her skills into the paramedical field.
Her industry has been hit hard by the lockdowns and her clinic, based at Cherish Salon, has been open for just four of the last 14 months.
Luisa has spent the time at home studying.
"For the best part of a year I have studied all things nipples," she said.
"I sketched hundreds and hundreds of pictures, read books about the journey from diagnosis to try and understand both the physical and emotional impact involved.
"I studied pictures, watched videos, learnt about the various types of surgery and then started to tattoo realistic 3D looking nipples onto fake skin.
"When lockdown was lifted I was able to complete my training with one of the top UK paramedical tattoo artists and I am now making contacts with oncology clinics across the South West."
Luisa feels strongly that this should be a procedure available for anyone to access, regardless of financial circumstance.
"Going through treatment for cancer impacts on many levels, and sometimes the financial strain that some families will face can mean that this wonderful treatment can feel unaffordable.
"So I decided to launch my ‘Free Fridays’ for clients who need to book one of my complimentary appointments," she said.
