A Cotswold inn has been awarded two AA Rosettes for culinary excellence – which are given to only 10 per cent of hospitality venues in the country.

The Bathurst Arms in North Cerney was also awarded a four star rating overall by the industry body, after only a year under the ownership of Jordan Pelly.

The 95 per cent organic pub was the recipient of the Wilts and Glos Standard Best Takeaway 2021 in April.

“The reception and feedback from our customers has been great and this has helped us win these awards,” said Jordan.

“We are going in the right direction so a big thanks to my team in the kitchen and front of house as well as the village of North Cerney, who have been fantastic, and Punch Pubs & Co who have also been supportive throughout.”

Success or failure in achieving Rosettes is based on one or more visits by an AA inspector to a hotel or restaurant where they assess the entire meal, including ancillary items.

Dishes enjoyed by the AA at The Bathurst Arms included salt cured pollock tacos, a Jersey Royal risotto and Purton Farm pork with cauliflower, kohlrabi and an apple sauce, while dessert was a rhubarb and custard tart with Berkeley Farm ice cream.

The inn was awarded five stars for Organic Served Here by the Soil Association Certification, the first and only pub to receive the rating in the UK.
