A popular Cotswold farm shop is under new ownership

Tarryn Draper is the new proprietor of Butts Farm Shop and Tearooms.

The 42-year-old will run the butchers, shop and tearooms, while the farm will remain in the hands of Judy Hancox - who will continue her work with the rare breed animals on the farm.

“We used to take our eldest daughter, Alexandra, to the farm when we holidayed here,” said Tarryn, originally from South Africa.

“When we moved back to the UK two years ago, Alexandra volunteered on the farm in her summer holiday and then continued to work on the farm on holidays and weekends.

"In the height of the second lockdown, I asked Judy if she needed help one day, it was then I fell in love with the charm of the shop and farm.

“In the run up to Christmas Judy had mentioned that she wanted to spend more time with her animals and that she would shut the shop. I offered to take it off her hands – so here I am.”

Butt’s specialises in rare breeds, such as Gloucester Old Spot and Oxford Sandy and Black pork, North Ronaldsdale and Norfolk Horn Lamb and Longhorn beef, amongst others.

“I believe in good quality meat, I also wanted to add some new lines to the offering so have brought in some different suppliers and products for you all to try as well as some lovely homeware including chopping boards from a local craftsman," said Tarryn.

Butts Farm shop and Tearooms can be found on the Cricklade Road between the Cotswold Lakes and Cirencester. You can call the shop on 01285 862224 or email shop@buttsfarmrarebreeds.co.uk.
