Down Ampney News

PLAYGROUND Appeal - At the time of writing the total raised on http://www.spacehive.com/down-ampney-childrens-playground has reached £8,167. The sum of £38K sounds a lot for a new playground surface, but if it lasts 20 years like the current one, and enables many children to play safely in this well loved playground then it is worth it. Villages like Down Ampney rely on volunteer effort and fundraising to create and maintain many of their facilities. All 'likes' to back the scheme and pledges of whatever people can afford will go towards making this current village effort successful. On Thursday, May 27, Cotswold District Council will be assessing this important village project to decide whether it is eligible to receive Council funds, so if you have not already pledged or 'liked' the appeal please do.

PARISH communion on Sunday, May 30, will be held at Ampney St Peter at 10 am.

NEIGHBOURHOOD Plan - There will be an update on progress in the June edition of The Down Ampney News. Aerial photographs are to be taken of the village, but permission from Fairford Airfield is still awaited, this should come through for June/July.

LARK's Cafe in the Village Shop is now open and offering takeaway drinks and snacks. The shop has new items in stock, including grass fed beef mince, bacon, free range pork sausages, pasties, pies and scotch eggs. Also fresh fish including salmon and place along with fruit and vegetables, loaves, and pastries. Volunteers keep the shop running, new volunteers are always welcome. If you are new to the village its also a good way to meet people and find out how the village ticks. Contact Tony Peel simpeel@btinternet.com or Peter Baillie davs2016@hotmail.com
