A CARTERTON man who gave false information after a traffic stop was warned he faced jail.

David Seager, 46, gave another person’s details when he was stopped on March 13, 2019, in Chippenham.

Appearing before Swindon Crown Court on Monday, Seager, of Alvescot Road, Carterton, pleaded guilty to a charge of perverting the course of justice.

Judge Jason Taylor QC told Seager’s brief Susan Cavender he would adjourn for pre-sentence report.

But he warned: “You know the normal sentence for this type of offence, so it’s given on a no promise basis.

“He should expect an immediate custodial sentence but it is right a report is prepared so you have the maximum mitigation available to you.”

Seager was granted bail to return to the court on June 22 for sentence.
