The award-winning Corinium Museum is set to re-open on Monday, May 17, in line with the next easing of Covid-19 restrictions.

Renowned for its Roman collections and exhibits, the Cirencester-based museum will be open from 10am to 5pm Monday through to Saturday, and 2pm to 5pm on Sundays.

Amanda Hart, museum director said: “At long last we can re-open.

“It’s been tough times for many of us, and especially hard-hitting for our museum.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank the staff, supporters and friends of the museum for their resilience and perseverance.

“I would also like to reassure visitors that our immersive, spacious museum is absolutely safe and ready to extend a warm welcome and we cannot wait to see you!”

There are plenty of new exhibits to look forward to at the Corinium Museum, as well as a number of events.

Get up close and personal with objects that are hundreds of thousands of years old in the New Immersive Exhibits that are now fully open in the New Stone Age to Corinium Galleries.

Exceptional Bronze Age objects, on loan from The British Museum are also now showing at Corinium Museum.

These pieces, previously unseen, will form part of the Bronze Age display in the new galleries.

Amanda added: “This latest lockdown has given us time to work on new formats and offerings for our visitors and supporters.

“Our new membership cards are a great, sustainable, reusable gift to give.

“If you’re not a member please consider supporting our museum by buying a membership. It truly is an amazing feeling to be opening once again, please do come and see us!”
