After more than a year of being unable to rehearse together properly, the Malmesbury Concert Band (MCB) is delighted to be re-starting its weekly practice programme later this month.

The band will recommence its practice sessions from Friday, May 21, in the town hall.

The practices will be complying fully with the government’s Covid regulations, ensuring that proper social distancing between players is carried out at all times.

If the government’s roadmap to progressively relax the rules continues, it is hoped that the band may be able to return to its usual band room, in Park Road from June 21.

The band is planning some public performances this summer, subject to Covid regulations, starting with John Coles Park, Chippenham, on Sunday, June 27, and Birdcage Walk/Market Cross, Malmesbury, on Saturday, July 17.

MCB director of music Tony Fleming said: “We’re delighted to be resuming rehearsals after so long. Band members can’t wait to get playing again together.”
