The Phoenix Festival plans to go ahead over the August Bank Holiday weekend but will be a stripped back version of previous years.

Due to financial and time constraints, the organisers have decided to focus on a smaller two-day event that will showcase an array of locally based acts, artists and performers, as well as rolling over the previously booked 2020 special guests: “Bruno - A Tribute to Bruno Mars” and “Michael Starring Ben” - a tribute to the King of Pop.

Glen Moreman festival manager said: “Just over a month ago we set up a Just Giving campaign to help raise some festival funds and although we haven’t yet reached our target we are still planning to go ahead this summer with a stripped back festival and do Cirencester proud.”

The festival will have one main stage, the arena, fairground rides, as well as some festival traders, food and drink.

Local artists and performers have already been contacted and once finalised, announcements will follow.

The festival’s fundraising page has just topped £3,500 and there is still time to donate.

Should the festival not go ahead, due to Covid-19 regulations, donations will be rolled over to 2022.

Glen added: “We hope everyone understands and supports our decision to strip the festival back to save on costs, save the festival and help ensure its’ future.

“We are so very grateful to all the support we have received so far and we are really looking forward to seeing everyone enjoy this incredibly unique, core community event in the heart of Cirencester this summer.”
