In the last couple of years many local shops have closed or gone out of business, writes Robert Heaven.
Covid has caused this in some cases, but looking back in time, shops have always come and gone in Cirencester, but for other reasons.
Shops that were once the mainstay for local shoppers before supermarkets and the internet now only live on only in the memory of older readers, old trade directories and in photographs.
Today’s photos from the 1970s, show now defunct grocers that once graced the Market Place and back of the church.
