Leisure centres across the Cotswolds are celebrating a successful reopening period after seeing over 4,500 gym visits in the first fortnight after reopening their doors.

Everyone Active’s leisure centres in Cirencester, Bourton-on-the-Water and Chipping Campden run in partnership with Cotswold District Council reopened their doors on Monday, April 12, after three months of closure due to lockdown.

In the latest stage of the government’s four-step roadmap, centres were permitted to reopen with strict operational measures in place, including rigorous cleaning regimes and timed activity sessions.

Numbers through the doors show that members were keen to get back in the gym, with 4,547 visits to the gym across all three centres so far.

Lane swimming has proven popular too, with 2,236 sessions taking place during the same time period.

Jamie Nesbit, contract manager at Everyone Active, said: “The response we’ve received from our members has been overwhelmingly positive.

“We’re so pleased to see many new and returning members through our doors.

“Customer and colleague safety remains our number one priority and we hope The Everyone Pledge keeps our members confident in our commitment to keep them safe and active.

“We are also looking forward to being able to open even more facilities, such as our group exercise classes, in the next step of the Government road map.”
