Chedworth news with David Broad

THE community orchard project is moving up a gear.

The planned site is parish land near the mobile phone mast.

Twenty to thirty trees are planned but some volunteers who can make a solid commitment to nurse the saplings in their early stages, carry out annual pruning and process the crop are needed.

If you are interested, please email the clerk (chedworthpc@hotmail.co.uk).

THE neighbourhood plan is proceeding.

The plan is community-led and researched, written and voted on by the people who live and work in Chedworth and will identify issues and themes that concern the residents of the parish.

Its a chance for residents to have their say.

The PC will be sending out a questionnaire for everyone to fill it in as the neighbourhood plan must be based on the views of the parish as a whole.

The group is meeting this week to work on details of the questionnaire.

THE council discussed the possibility of taking over the Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust (GWT) Chedworth’s Nature Reserve (some 4.8 hectares of land along the old railway line).

The GWT would like Chedworth Parish Council to become the new owner of the reserve and has stated that it could be transferred to the parish council for a peppercorn.

The parish council has invited a representative of GWT to their next meeting to explore this further.
