A Moreton-in-Marsh teen, is celebrating after being selected as the winner of a photography competition.

Run by the retirement developer behind the Hawkesbury Place, Keatley Place, Watson Place and Willoughby Place developments in the Cotswolds, the competition called for local residents to share photographs of their favourite scenery, wildlife and landscapes that can be found around every corner of the local area.

The competition was judged by Cotswold District Councillor and cabinet member for health and wellbeing, Jenny Forde, who selected Flynn’s winning image, entitled ‘Sunset over Springhill’.

The photograph will now be professionally printed and displayed in the homeowners’ lounge at Watson Place in Chipping Norton for all to see.

Flynn was awarded £250 for his photograph. He said: “While my walks have been restricted to my local area, I’m very lucky to live in such a beautiful place, with so many scenic views on my doorstep.

“I have always really enjoyed taking photos and this particular photo of is a favourite of mine.

“I was delighted to win this competition and I’m really looking forward to visiting Watson Place to see my photo in situ.”

Cllr Forde, said: “The standard of all the entries was phenomenal and is a real testament to the talented amateur photographers around the Cotswolds. I certainly had a tough decision to make.

“I chose Flynn’s image as the winner because I felt it captured the beauty of the local area and I was so surprised to find out he was only 14!

“He really is a talented young photographer. The photo is just lovely and I look forward to seeing it in place at Watson Place when restrictions have eased.”

Samantha Watkins, deputy divisional sales and marketing director for McCarthy Stone Midlands, added: “All of the entries we received were brilliant, and I’d like to offer our congratulations to Flynn for winning the competition.

“There are so many stunning views in and around the Cotswolds and Flynn’s image really captured its beauty.

“Although current restrictions mean that we haven’t been able to officially unveil the image in our new homeowners’ lounge just yet, we look forward to welcoming Flynn to see it for himself once we can safely open the doors to Watson Place once again.”
