A group of travellers have pitched up at Cirencester Rugby Club.
Approximately 23 caravans arrived at the club at 7pm on Saturday evening.
A Cotswold District Council spokesperson, said: “We are aware that a group of travellers have set up an encampment on the Cirencester Rugby Club pitch.
“The council has been in contact with the police and representatives of the rugby club.
“Cirencester Rugby Club is on private land and therefore the landowners are responsible for taking appropriate action in this case.
“We are in regular communication with representatives of the rugby club and are offering advice to them where this is required.”
We are saddened to report to all members and partners that after a fantastic reopening today our rugby club is now closed again to rugby, sports and hospitality due to the arrival this evening of unwelcome visitors.
