A 45-YEAR-OLD Stow man who was caught behind the wheel whilst more than three times over the alcohol limit has been banned from driving for three-and-a-half years.

James Black, 45, of Wraggs Row, Stow-on-the-Wold, pleaded guilty to driving whilst under the influence of alcohol when he appeared before Cheltenham Magistrates Court on March 26.

Magistrates heard how Black was behind the wheel of his Mercedes on the A429 near Stow whilst he was under the influence of alcohol.

Black was found to have 116 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, the legal limit being 35 micrograms.

He was ordered to participate in a rehabilitation activity requirement up to a maximum of 12 days, fined £60, ordered to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £95 and pay costs of £40.
