Chedworth community news with David Broad

THE Seven Tuns is counting down to their re-opening on Monday, April 12.

Re-opening with dining on the terrace at first.

However if it does rain you won’t be allowed to shelter inside so wrap up warm and waterproof and or bring a designated driver to sit around miserably drinking diet Irn Bru or fizzy water while you sample the good stuff.

Bonzo Productions are casting for their summer production of “The Sound of Music” at the Manor Chedworth on August 12, 13, 14, 15 and 19, 20, 21, 22.

Auditions will be held on Wednesday, April 14 and Friday, April 16 at North Cerney Village Hall with callbacks on April 17.

THE bonfire season has recommenced.

Residents can enjoy the smoky fragrance of burned weeds as the valley fills with a choking haze of unburned hydrocarbons.

Smoking mounds of rubbish, old tyres and weeds are lovingly tended by local pyromaniacs who only emerge on sunny days intent on sharing their noxious emissions with others and give our rural community the chance to enjoy the sort of air quality usually enjoyed in major cities.

GLOS Highways have completed repairs to Withington Hill.

Chedworth Parish Council and Cllr Paul Hodgkinson had campaigned for many months to get this work done.

The roads has effectively been completely resurfaced from Woodlands Farm to the bottom of the hill, turning the rutted potholed obstacle course into a super smooth, super slick sort of Cotswold Cresta run for cyclists.

Unfortunately the rest of the road on to Withington and back towards Cirencester is not to the same high standard.

Chedworth Parish Council meets by Zoom this Monday, April 12, at 7.30pm.

Please contact Mrs Ros Jess for log in details.
