The following are planning decisions made in North Wiltshire by Wiltshire Council, recently:

Stanton St Quintin: David Killinger has been granted planning permission to build a log cabin at the end of his garden at 56, Stanton St Quintin. Mr Killinger already received planning permission for the build last year, but wanted to make some changes to its design which warranted a fresh bid. The cabin remains the same size (4m x 4m) but differed slightly due to the introduction of a new canopy.

Malmesbury: Proposals to demolish a porch at 2 Manor Cottage on Swindon Road have been blocked by council planning officers. Richard Jowitt who put in the bid was denied planning permission to tear down the porch and build a store room in its place. Giving their reasoning for the decision, planning officers said: “The proposed extension by reason of its size and design would be an incongruous and prominent feature. It is considered that the proposed extension by reason of its size, design, and prominent position would relate poorly to the existing building and would have an adverse impact on the street scene.”

Cricklade: Wayne Barrett has successfully applied for retrospective planning permission for an outbuilding for boarding cats. The business, which has been operating for some months and only open for two hours a day to the public for collection and drop off. The maximum capacity of the building would be for six cats and, on average according to the report, only one person a day would visit the site which is done via a booking. There were considerations that because of the location in a residential area, that there might be some concerns around noise. However, officers wrote: “In this regard noted that cats generally do not generate significant noise and on this basis no objection is raised subject to condition ensuring the development is only used for cats.”
