ANN O’Hara and Myra Sheppard are compiling a special book of moments of joy and inspiration.

For so many people, life since March last year has been filled with changes, challenges, worries, stress and even the death of loved ones and friends.

Ann and Myra would like you to share some of your happy moments during the pandemic that have helped you and which can, in turn, can spread joy and inspiration to others.

The money raised from the sale of the book will be used to help improve facilities in St Mary’s Church, Kempsford, including a much needed toilet.

Ann and Myra are asking you to think back over the months and remember some of the moments that were joyous and meaningful to you.

Choose one or more if you can, say how it made you feel and the difference it made for you either long term or just for a minute.

“We are asking people to share their happy moments to bring a smile, offer thanks, share comfort and hope for the future,” said Ann.

“We also want to recognise the NHS and key workers, so would like thank yous for the happy moments they brought and what brought them happiness amidst difficult times.

“We are also hoping that people will send in some Thursday clap-for-carers photos and memories.

“Other memories that have been mentioned are about past community events such as the Kempsford Teddy Bear Hunt; the Scarecrow Trail or about Captain Tom, who was an inspiration to us all.”

One couple told about their regular exercise walk around a local lake and how, as the weeks went by, the walkers noticed that the sky was frequently a stunning, rich Mediterranean blue.

It wasn’t just the sunshine they said, but because there was less pollution in the air due to less traffic on the roads and the absence of planes overhead.

There was also less man-made noise and the tranquillity attracted more birds and wildlife.

When allowed, the walkers shared their experience and walked with one or two friends, so that the walk worked its magic on them too.

You can write down all your memories and moments on an entry form (one memory per form) with your name and age (if you are school age) and a contact email or phone number.

Please ask for an entry form and more information from Ann and Myra: collectingrainbows4PCC@gmail.com.
