A former Bristol City footballer has been jailed for 10 years after he was convicted of rape and attempted rape following attacks on women he met at nightclubs in Bristol and London.

Alhaji Sesay, 22, who also represented the Sierra Leone national team, was convicted of one count of rape and two of attempted rape against two separate women following a trial at Bristol Crown Court.

He was found not guilty of a second charge of rape.

A Gloucester woman stole more than £140,000 from a Stonehouse company to spend on tropical fish and a Disneyland holiday.

Jane Parkinson-Wadsworth, 58, of Hillview Road, Hucclecote, defrauded Omega Resource Group of the six-figure sum in just 17 days while employed as their ledger clerk, Gloucester Crown Court heard.

She admitted fraud by abuse of position and concealing, disguising, converting, transferring or removing criminal property as well as five charges of falsifying accounts.

The judge sentenced Parkinson-Wadsworth to a prison term of two years, suspended for two years.

A COVIDIOT drink-driver stuck in a traffic jam ran a red light and overtook queuing traffic and a steamroller at 60mph because he "couldn't be a**** waiting".

Raymond Jones, 38, broke Covid-19 restrictions by travelling to Wales from his South Gloucestershire home to celebrate his wedding anniversary.

He told police he crossed the border into Wales because “there was nothing open in England".

Jones was jailed for eight months, suspended for 18 months. He was ordered to carry out 100 hours of unpaid work and observe a six-month curfew between 8pm and 6am.

He was banned from driving for 12 months.
