A 26-YEAR-OLD from Tetbury who assaulted a woman before repeatedly harassing her for a number of months has been given a community order.

Kyle Alley, of Jasmine Gardens, pleaded guilty to three offences when he appeared before Cheltenham Magistrates Court on February 9.

Magistrates heard how in Tetbury on July 25 last year, Alley assaulted the woman by beating her while also damaging her leather handbag.

Between July 24 and October 3, Alley proceeded to send hundreds of text messages and multiple calls daily to the victim. He is also said to have created false social media accounts in an effort to make contact with the woman.

Magistrates ordered Alley to participate in an accredited programme for 30 days and carry out unpaid work for 140 hours within the next 12 months.

He was also ordered to pay the victim £200 in compensation, pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £95 and pay costs of £300 to the Crown Prosecution Service.
