More than 500 new covid cases have been recorded in Wiltshire this week.

New figures from Public Health England figures revealed 574 people have been confirmed as testing positive in the last seven days.

Covid infections have been coming down across the county during England’s third national lockdown, and Prime Minister Boris Johnson has said he is “hopeful” coronavirus restrictions can be cautiously eased in the coming weeks.

The Government will analyse data this week on coronavirus case numbers, hospital admissions, deaths and the impact of the vaccine rollout as he prepares his plan to reduce restrictions.

Overall in the UK, 10,625 new people had a confirmed positive test result reported on 16 February 2021.

Between 10 February 2021 and 16 February 2021, 86,321 people had a confirmed positive test result. This shows a decrease of 27.8% compared to the previous 7 days.

Vaccination update

Vaccines are currently given in 2 doses, at least 21 days apart.

15,576,107 people had been given a first dose by the end of 15 February 2021.

Wilts and Gloucestershire Standard:

546,165 people had been given a second dose by the end of 15 February 2021.

Deaths in the UK

There were 799 deaths within 28 days of a positive test for coronavirus reported on 16 February 2021.

Between 10 February 2021 and 16 February 2021, there have been 4,345 deaths within 28 days of a positive coronavirus test. This shows a decrease of 25.6% compared to the previous 7 days.
