Tetbury news with Kevin Painter

THE police report for December 20/January 21 by PC Shane Jupp.

Cotswolds Neighbourhood Policing Team informed the town council that they have been delivering leaflets this month with information on how to prevent becoming a victim of a fraud after members of the public had received telephone calls trying to scam them. We will continue this over the next month.

We have noticed an increase in ASB in the recreation ground.

We are carrying out extra patrols and will be issuing Fixed Penalty Notices for any breaches of Covid regulations.

We are continuing to patrol as normal, but are only entering buildings if we really need to.

We have received a few calls about breaches of Covid regulations, but most of those have provided a reason for the breach.

One public house was found to be having a staff party late at night last week. Each of those in attendance will be receiving a £200 fine.

We continue to attend all reports during the lockdown period and continue to engage with people and encourage them to keep to the guidelines and regulations. But on a positive note reassured us that the crime figures remain low.

DO tune in or record Countryfile this Sunday where you can see familiar faces such as presenter Elle Harrison who was educated at Sir William Romney's school.

Ellie will be talking to Mary Hinton who runs the local hedgehog hospital and will be finding out more about Britain’s favourite mammal the hedgehog, which is facing a precarious future.

Mary who looks after and tends to hedgehogs at the hospital works so tirelessly to ensure their safety.

CLLR Richard Norris of Cotswold District Council gave an update from the district council to Tetbury Town Council.

The cabinet have adopted the sustainable transport delivery strategy for electric vehicles and will now commence delivery of the delivery plan. Installation will commence summer/autumn of EVCP in council owned car parks which includes Tetbury.

THE disabled bays have now been completed in the West Street and Church Street car parks which now insures all Cotswold District Council car parks have disabled parking bays.

The removal of cash payments at Cotswold District Council car parks will be in a phased approach. The removal will take place in August for West Street and Church Street car park and October for The Chipping car park.

The town council has raised concerns regarding the removal of cash payments.

The council feels that it would put off people visiting the town when the town will be struggling like so many market towns to attract business back when the current crisis and lockdown is lifted.

It was decided that council will be discussing this at the next heritage regeneration committee meeting on Monday, February 1, at 7pm.

THE Tetbury Good Shed Art Centre has launched a fantastic new initiative which is named the 200 club.

What they are looking for is 200 people who would be happy to pay £60 a year to ensure the Goods Shed can remain open.

Members pay just £60 a year, half going to the prize fund and half going to support the Goods Shed.

By doing this you can help the Goods Shed and have the thrill of knowing you could be a lucky winner!

This buys you one membership number (which they will allocate), which then enters you into the monthly draw.

The prize money will be 50 per cent of the membership fees for that month.

The remaining 50 per cent goes to the Goods Shed to help fund equipment and resources.

If you win, they will post a cheque to your home address.

Winners’ names will be published here, on the website and in the monthly newsletter.

The draw will take place on the 16th day of each month.

Please contact Carol Paton on 01666 505 496 or email info@shed-arts.co.uk if you would like more information.

Or you can just visit shed-arts.co.uk and simply download, complete and sign the membership form, and set up a payment of £60 for one year (which works out at just £5 a month).
