Gloucestershire police closed part of the A417 after a man fell from a bridge near Cirencester on Wednesday evening.

Police were called to the scene and the man was taken to hospital after being found to have sustained serious injuries.

A spokesperson from Gloucestershire police said: "Police were called to the A417 near Cirencester shortly after 6.30pm on Wednesday following reports that a man had fallen from a bridge.

"Upon attendance the man was found injured and was taken to Southmead Hospital with serious injuries where he remains at this time.

"The road was closed whilst officers and paramedics were in attendance and reopened at around 10.30pm."
