Police in Swindon are patrolling areas with the highest rates of coronavirus to remind people of the new lockdown laws.

Cases in the town are now the highest in the west, so officers have taken on extra duties to ensure people are following the rules.

PCSO Kuy Harrison spoke to BBC Points West while on Manchester Road.

He said: “Every day, I’m always on foot patrol up and down the shops, making sure they’re wearing their masks and going by the rules.

"We get good results, we have good rapport with people. It was very good today.

“I always go to the community centres with people of different cultures, and they come out with me as well and chat with people – it’s not just police officers, it’s members of the public, the council and volunteers going out."

Positive cases more than doubled in Swindon between Christmas and new year.
