A man has been arrested following the unexplained death of a woman in the Cotswolds.

Police were called by the ambulance service to an address in Great Rissington at around 11.35am today (Sunday), where a woman was found deceased.

The death of the woman, who is aged in her 40s, is being treated as unexplained. Her next of kin are aware and the coroner has also been informed.

A man in his 40s has been arrested in connection with the woman's death and remains in police custody.

Gloucestershire police are likely to remain in the area for a number of days while the investigation continues.

A spokesperson said: "With the ongoing police activity Gloucestershire Constabulary want to reassure the local community that there is no wider threat to the public in connection with this incident.
