Fairford news with Chris Roberts

THE Virtual Fairford 10k is now open for entry via bit.ly/2UvJdro.

This is a great idea from Running Somewhere Else, who usually organise the Fairford Festival 10k race.

As the June 2020 Fairford Festival and Festival 10k race was not able to go ahead this year, Running Somewhere Else is organising a Run It Somewhere Else – a virtual race during December – a last blast for 2020!

The virtual race can be run or walked from any location entrants choose and whenever they want throughout the month of December, as long as they cover the 10k distance in one session.

They just need to record their evidence and submit it to get a shiny medal reward!

This race is by online entry only and costs £6.50 plus 50p entry admin fee.

All the entry details can be found online and all finishers will receive a medal.

For any queries, email racedirector@runningsomewhereelse.com.

Pauline Tilbury, RSE Club chairperson and race director Fairford 10k said: “Although we can’t all be together for this event, we hope you enjoy your 10k experience, wherever you choose to run it.”

DUE to the continuation of Covid-19 restrictions in relation to public gatherings, a joint League of Friends and Friends of Fairford & Lechlade Communities AGM will be held via Zoom on Thursday, December 3, at 7pm.

If you would like to attend, please contact administrator, Christine Baker on fairford.lof@hotmail.co.uk and she will advise the co-ordinates for the call.

Please do join us to hear about our activities.

THIS time last year, the Fairford & District Choral Society was energetically rehearsing for a concert on December 7, including Poulenc’s Gloria, Vaughan Williams’ Fantasia on Christmas Carols together with assorted Advent and Christmas Carols.

Little did we think then that it was going to be our last concert before 2021!

Due to the coronavirus restrictions, we have sadly decided to cancel rehearsals for the rest of 2020 and for our winter-spring term 2021.

The concerts planned for November 28, 2020 and May 1, 2021 are, therefore cancelled.

We are very much hoping to restart rehearsals in September 2021 and work towards a performance of Messiah on December 4, 2021, although this is, of course, subject to review and coronavirus restrictions.

Thank you for all your support: we can’t tell you how much we look forward to singing together and performing for you again in the future.
