These photos of Prince Charles, Princess Anne and her first husband Captain Mark Phillips in their late twenties were unearthed by WGS nostalgia writer Robert Heaven while digging around the archive at the old Standard office.
The royals appear to be less than impressed with the standard of the grass beneath their boots at the 1977 VWH Cross County event near Cirencester.
Prince Charles can be seen sporting his trademark side parting while Princess Anne has ditched her usual bouffant hairstyle for a ponytail.
Ever dapper, the Prince of Wales has completed his look with a suave checkered jacket, pocketsquare, shades and what could be a bright turtlekneck and jodhpurs.
In another photo, the Princess and Charles are leant against an old Range Rover.
