There has been a confirmed case of Covid-19 at Malmesbury Primary School.

Those who have been in direct, prolonged contact with the confirmed case will be self-isolating for 14 days.

The school remains open this morning for everybody else.

Steve Heal, headteacher of Malmesbury CE Primary School, said: We have become aware of a confirmed case of Covid-19 within the school.

"We have conducted a thorough risk assessment with Wiltshire Council Public Health team to identify close contacts and any additional actions required.

"The parents/carers of pupils and staff members identified as close contacts have been notified.

"Whilst I fully understand this will cause anxiety amongst the school community, I can assure you all necessary steps are being taken to minimise risk to others, to cause the least disruption possible and to support all those affected."

The news comes just weeks after two teachers at the school tested positive.
