Police have traced a car they believe was used by hare coursing gangs in Wiltshire.

Hare coursing, illegal under the Hunting Act 2004, is a bloodsport where dogs are used to chase, catch and kill hares.

This week, Royal Wootton Bassett and Cricklade Police traced a vehicle connected with the crime.

The force wrote on Facebook: "This vehicle was used in hare coursing it got bogged down in mud on farmland near to Malmesbury.

"We’ve had it recovered and seized it but unfortunately the people using it made good their escape prior to our arrival, they will come again of that we have no doubt!"
