Tetbury Talk with Kevin Painter

EVEN though we cannot be sharing, remembering and honouring the fallen due to current lockdown guidelines, thoughts will be with the invited only representatives who will still be laying wreaths on Sunday at 2.30pm, at the war memorial located in St Saviour’s Church.

Of course you may wish to visit the church to honour and to remember what the wreaths signify, the blanket of freedom that all the brave fallen gave us all and visit the decorated church any time or day after the service.

In addition, the Royal British Legion has set up a link for donations online that will go towards the Gloucestershire appeal.

bit.ly/3ocEyby is the link for people to donate online to the Gloucestershire Poppy Appeal.

If anyone wishes for their donation to be attributed towards Tetbury’s amount this year, here are the details for BACS payments: The Royal British Legion, Sort Code 30-00-00, account 0025311, REF – MCB30. Even in these challenging times we will never forget.

IF you are one of the many people who will miss attending the Remembrance Service due to the current lockdown guidelines, you can still attend the virtual church service on Sunday at 10am.

You’re also invited to make or draw a poppy or even a photo that will be used as a gallery for the Sunday worship via Zoom.

Please email photos to Sarah Parton, who will be leading the worship with Ian Aveyard on Sunday: sarah.j23@hotmail.co.uk.

If you would like to attend or for more information please contact the parish administrator Diana on 01666 503944 or email office@tetburychurch.co.uk.

AND whilst the town will be quiet, the town council grounds team will be carrying on working on the pride in our town project which will include replacing waste baskets/bins, replacing and renovating benches, removing some of the overgrown and unsightly weeds and eventually working on the bus shelters for a general overhaul and clean.

So when the town opens up again, it will look amazing and this will complement our new roads.

Hopefully making Tetbury once again the ideal shopping experience.

And talking of shopping next week I will supply a list of shops that will remain open in the town centre.

COTSWOLD District Councillor Richard Norris is currently looking at car parking in Tetbury and in dialogue with the car parking team for Cotswold District Council has identified a few concerns in relation to the 20 minute free parking bays and their use.

And it is also looking very positive thanks to Richard for the Cotswold District Council owned car parks in Tetbury (West Street Car Park having 45 standard spaces and Church Street Car Park 35 standard ) after many years of requesting and lobbying to have some specific disabled parking bays.

If you have any thoughts or questions on this matter, Richard would love to hear from you.

So please contact him on 07879441938 or email richard.norris@cotswold.gov.uk.

IT is very sad for the town council to be saying saying farewell to Georgina Osman.

Georgina will be missed as her friendly constantly happy attitude was a big part of the success of many of the town council projects.

Georgina who along with Tara would take the ideas from council and turn them into reality.

Georgina will now be leaving on Wednesday.

If you wish to say goodbye or even say thank you to Georgina you can email her.

And she will be genuinely missed by all. Thank you Georgina.
