Fairford news with Chris Roberts

THE Fairford & Lechlade Business Club would like to encourage local people to shop local for Christmas.

Let’s buy as many Christmas gifts as possible from our local small businesses rather than the large retail stores or online mail order sites.

There are so many outlets in both Fairford and Lechlade and surrounding areas where you can buy vouchers for meals from restaurants, cafés, pubs and hotels or buy vouchers from our chemists, butchers, grocery stores, beauty salons, hairdressers, gift shops and florists. By shopping local for Christmas, we will be supporting our local economy.

IT is with regret that the Friends of Fairford & Lechlade Communities’ Christmas Bazaar will not be taking place this year.

However, the AGM will be a virtual meeting using Zoom and the date and time will be advised shortly.

In addition, fundraising activities have been restricted this year, but the 100 Club is still running and members are urged to renew their membership and other people interested in subscribing to the club should look for details in the November and December issues of local magazines.

“FIT for the Future” – a public consultation on options for organising a number of specialist hospital services across the Cheltenham General and Gloucestershire Royal Hospital sites.

The survey will run from October 22 until December 17.

Hard copy brochures available in the waiting room at the practice for patients to take and complete, but all information including access to the survey is also on the following link.

Please note this is a new link, as the previous link was out of date: smartsurvey.co.uk/s/FFTFConsult/.

WITH the local and national increase of people testing positive with coronavirus, a reminder to all patients to please only attend the surgery if you have a pre-booked appointment or are collecting your medication from the dispensary.

To book an appointment, order medication or for any other query, please telephone the surgery on 01285 712377 or contact us via the practice website fairfordsurgery.co.uk.

Reception staff have also resumed monitoring anyone who enters the surgery in the main reception foyer area.

You will be asked whether you currently have any coronavirus symptoms or have had any of the symptoms in the last 10 days before being allowed to enter.

Please do bear with us, as this is does take more time, but we would appreciate your understanding in helping to keep us all safe.

THE next full town council meeting will be on Tuesday at 7pm on Zoom – you are welcome to join us.

Email the council for an invitation to the meeting at clerks@fairfordtowncouncil.gov.uk.
