A South Gloucestershire man has been jailed for three years and nine months after admitting raping a woman following a party.
Michael Stephen Smith, 25, of High Street, Bitton, attempted to have sex with the victim while she was asleep following a party in 2017.
The victim woke up and made it clear she didn’t want to have sex, but Smith went on to rape her.
He was so concerned the victim would report him to the police, he called first to claim she was harassing him by making false allegations that he’d sexually assaulted her.

A Cirencester drug dealer has been jailed for three years and four months.
Lloyd Nicholas, 60, of Smiths Field, Chesterton, Cirencester, was sentenced after previously pleading guilty to being concerned with the supply of cocaine and cannabis.
Carol Paige, 48, or the same address, was sentenced 18 months in prison, suspended for 18 months, having also pleaded guilty to the same charges.
