A B-52 bomber sent a distress signal after a mid-air emergency near Tewkesbury last week.

According to The Sun, the tracking website Flightradar 24 indicated a 'general emergency'.

Two B-52s were spotted flying in the county on Friday.

It was reported that both of the aircrafts were flying at an altitude of more than 9,000 feet, and the tracking website indicated the B-52 which issued the warning had the call sign BALOO52.

The US Air Force confirmed that the aircraft experienced the ‘general in-flight emergency’ while on a training mission.

A crew reportedly issued the warning to ensure full access to its base at RAF Fairford, where it landed safely.
