THE new Stroud Foot Clinic has enjoyed a successful first few months as a business.

The clinic, which offers a range of podiatry and foot health services, is a collaboration between podiatrist Geoff Boldero, foot health practitioner Denise Blake and clinic manager Kath Morrison.

Based in Thrupp, the clinic opened its doors on January 6, and has had a positive first few months despite the coronavirus lockdown providing obvious challenges.

Geoff said: "With a new business and the first time in my life that I had employed anyone, I was a little nervous about the future, but was mightily relieved when the furlough and grant schemes were rolled out."

During the three months of lockdown, Denise, Kath and Geoff would have weekly zoom clinic meetings to exchange ideas for the future and to keep their respective spirits up, including Geoff composing and performing the company song ‘We are the foot fixers’! which caused much amusement but no offers in adding harmonies.

"We called many of our regular clients to check if they were ok and if there was anything we could do to help," said Geoff.

"Advice was given, foot pads and files were sent in the post and quite a number of Telehealth video consultations were undertaken."

Since reopening in mid June the clinic has gone from strength to strength adding another receptionist and two new practitioners. Geoff added: "Obviously there was a lot of backlog to catch up with, but we are seeing a huge amount of new clients too who seem to enjoy our friendly and newly fitted clinic."

The clinic has also just had a swinging pub-style sign installed which reflects the fact that it is based in what used to be one of Stroud’s old pubs – The Phoenix Inn.
