Almost 70% of residents have said they are in favour of pubs closing at 10pm to help halt the spread of Covid.
That’s according to a poll we ran on our website this week.
68% said they agree with the pub curfew, with 27% saying they didn't agree with it.
5% of respondents said they didn't have an opinion on the matter.
Residents also expressed their views on the issue by commenting on the poll on Facebook.
One person said: "How will shutting an hour earlier help contain the spread of this highly contagious potentially life threatening virus? Does it not infect people before 10pm?"
Another wrote: "Not sure the 10pm cut off will have any effect.
"Does Covid not come out till 10pm? I understand that the more alcohol consumed the less social distancing happens. People will just start drinking earlier."
